I've been online since dial up BBSs back in 1991. The Internet went from a fairly open place where you kind of knew everyone, to a huge place where people started spamming and personal information became something you wanted to keep secret. The last few years, though, have softened that. There are just so many people online that you can put yourself out there and no one will notice (until they do, then the traffic takes your site down). MySpace has been the standard bearer of this change where people put a different kind of personal information out. Not Social Security Numbers or mother's maiden names, but pictures and songs and stories.
Recently I've been making some friends online (let's face it: I play waaay too much WoW) and when I point them to this site I realize that its a bit bland. I use this for some of my ephemeral expressions, but not anything really personal. So I'm trying to change that a little bit. First with some photos. We set up a flickr site last Halloween that I'm adding to. It's a start...
Now I need to work on the songs and the stories.
