I listened to this band a little bit in the late 80's when they were screeching, a-tonal, post-punk, underground, alt-rock gods. I saw their genius, but was distracted by the million other things in my life. Lately I came across one of their songs in a workout mix and thought "damn, they really are good!"
Been listening to them at work these last few days and find they are very appealing work music: angry and screechy, loud enough to block out the chatty lady who shares all her phone conversations with everyone here, engaging enough to keep me awake.
Check them out. Current obsession song: Bull in the Heather from the Experimental Jet Set, Trash and No Star album. 100% is a great workout song.

I used to listen to Sonic Youth all the time, and Bull in the Heather was probably one of my favorite songs. I still have the cd; I'll have to pull it out. Thanks for the reminder.
Yeah, I know you're trying really hard to keep my from being that woman who listens to 80s easy rock/ top 20 crap and talks about how music today just isn't as good. But I'm sorry, nothing is better than listening to my Boingo CD for the one millionth time in a row. :)
